During the night between Saturday and Sunday the IRONMAN World Championship took place in Kona. All the best specialists in the world were there, ready to fight for the most important long-distance title, finally conquered by Jan Frodeno and Daniela Ryf.
Once again the best time in the bike is that of Normann Stadler back in 2006, a time of 4h:18'23", in the saddle of his Kuota KALIBUR.
Within the triathlon discipline KUOTA has been always able to be a reference in terms of innovation and results in this race (two titles, in 2004 and 2006).
The brand from Brianza didn't miss this edition neither and it was there with a number of athletes: the Germany's top rider Andi Boecherer, who took the 20th place and finished his 180-km-long bike with the 6th best time of the day in the saddle of a KT05, the Rougeot Beaune Triathlon team and Hsiu Shen Kuo from Taiwan.
The athlete from Germany kept the lead for a while before starting the final struggle that cost him a few positions.
On the finish line is Boecherer who gives us the best comment about this incredibly-hard race, where the stifling heat was just one more difficulty to cope with for the racers: “Kona was ready for me, but clearly I was not ready for it. I am not among the winners, but I am a finisher and I loved how my KT05 performed”.
